Chinese New Year Goodies

"BAK KWA" This is a must-have for this time of the year. Here is the "Bak Kwa" aka barbecue pork meat which I bought from KIM HOCK GUAN, I used to buy from Bee Cheng Hiang and after knowing that this is Singapore’s oldest bak kwa chain and ranking No. 1 in local Newspaper. I "kiasu" + I could get it at corporate rate + never tried before so I bought 1kg last week.

After tasting, I think I'll just stick to this brand! Chewy and look at it, no burnt corner and they are not using minced meat, can't resist the temptation even though I am so conscious about my weight!

Showing the price list is to let you guys know, next time buy EARLIER!

Reunion Dinner

Saturday, February 17, 2007

This will be my final year having my reunion dinner with my immediate family as I am officially Mrs. Goh! Ben agreed to go back on his own and we will be going to his place for the first 3 days of Chinese New Year from next year onwards.

As usual, we have

All types of oily Chinese sausages with leek. According to Aunt June, this is a Hakka style.

Chicken, a must-have-dish for all families!

Prawn(symbolise "laughter") come on, don't ask me why, just try to pronounce prawn in Cantonese.

Duck

Hainanese mixed veg, this dish contains many many ingredients. Everyone cooks this every year, I mean the "Lim's Family" and each has their own taste even though they are using exactly the same ingredient! *rolling eyes*

Fish

"Lo Hei" aka "Yu sheng", dad doesn't like raw fish so just substitute with the Abalone from New Moon, of cause we need to shredded.

Guess what, when we went to Uncle Steve's place for second round of Reunion Dinner, we have the same food(see I told you is standard dish)again except he cooked Shark Fin Soup and we had the Pig Organ Soup.

"Lo hei" is not new to Cheryl this time round and see our little girl...

I like the decorative

It's 14th Feb again..

It was a last minute thing when we decided to stay in a hotel for this day last year, I still remember we checked in to Hotel Miramar (so old!)and the room was .... well, no choice as there wasn't any rooms available for all hotels at Clarke Quay area(no idea why he likes this area so much, maybe is near the Singapore River). Ben proposed to me and we had wonderful Valentines' Day dinner at Clarke Quay.

This year, I was thinking maybe we can just have simple dinner at home and so we decided to have "Tender Chicken" together. Ben was late and I was a little upset while travelling home alone until the surprise came after the dinner.

Ben handed me a gift, I thought he would buy me a stalk of flower which he did not. It was a bear holding a little pillow printed with that three words, yes you know which three. While I was puzzled why did he give me a bear when he knew I don't fancy that all along. I saw this....

Ben got me a necklace from Tiffany & Co again! According to the sales personel, this is the latest design but I was wondering if I could have it change to another design. :Þ

Anyway, thanks thanks thanks and many kisses to my little hubby !

honey, do you think a Coach bag will be more matching with the dress I bought lately? *wink*

The Year of Boar [PiG to me,hehe]

As Chinese New Year is around the corner, I decided to decorate our little humble house and bake some cookies.
Mum has been travelling to aunt Monique's house for baking cookies as she has to complete about 150 boxes before the New Year! Yes she is selling them and trust me the cookies are delicious and 100% home-made. When I told her that I need some sample for my colleagues to try out, she told me she has stopped taking orders due to the overwhelming orders over the past few weeks. At that moment, I was hoping so much that if we could own a bakery shop to bake the lovely cookies and of cause my little cuppies!

Mum is good at these goodies which we used to call them "Bee-Hive Cookies". It is so easy to make and believe me you will definitely come back for more !

As no one is making the shrimp rolls this year, I decided to make them together with mum and giveaway some for each family. Is it easy to make? A picture speaks a thousand words.

The Invitation Cards Designs

Here are the designs of the invitation cards from The Oriental Hotel. We are most likely going to choose the red and the ivory, well, not much choices as you could see and I really dislike the black and green. Arrgghh..
