WC and Basin

Sunday, June 29, 2008

Just like other couples, we went to the "standard place" to look for wc and basin and we visited a few popular stores recommended by many people. No luck, so we hailed a cab and go all the way to Changi Lane. Oh yeah, we were at Lavender Food Square, how can we miss these food at Jalan Besar.

*tearing* After another 2 hours walk in this big building, thank god we found the items and goods will be delivered to us on coming Wednesday. Ben said I should have brought him here instead of those "mini store" at JBesar. I came here 2 years back with Nat and Chris while we were renovating mum's place, there are so many wc and basin, there is even a long bath costs only $48! Total damage : $400 plus and we still need to get another wc from Royal Fanco or IMM.

Another Tiring Saturday

Saturday, June 28, 2008

These people are so nice to work on Saturday because they are aware that we need to move in before 1 AUG. By right, there are not supposed to have any "knocking" and only light work can be done(without noise) on weekends. Mum kept saying there is no need to go there everyday to see the progress, our contractor will see to everything, so did others. Luckily Ben and I decided to get some cakes and drink for the workers so we gone up and to have a look after our breakie, they actually laid the wrong colour tiles for my MBR bathroom and the guy was glad that we told him earlier, or else he will need to remove the tiles from the wall! See, sometimes, we have to "see it ourselves". Later in the afternoon we went back again with drink for them and wall tiles for both bathroom are 80% laid, we are very pleased with the result!

Tiles

Thursday, June 26, 2008

Hacking work has completed today. So, from tomorrow onwards till next week, it will be mainly wet work. So excited! I can't wait to see the "tiles laying process". Haha, luckily I turned Sister Lee down when she asked me to go back to clinic, I told her I wanna be part of every step in renovation process. From tiles choosing, to buy light, hob, hood, basin to furniture, I am the one making decision. *luckily not the one paying* Haha..These are some of our tiles purchased from Hafary. I saw the packaging, the design we chose are from Italy and the rest are from M'sia and China.

3 ticks for our Fridge too!

I was choosing between this model and the Samsung mum bought before CNY. Now given another chance, I'll go for this model. CHEAP la~ and got 3 ticks also, 4 ticks model too expensive. Bye bye to F&P too...

Looking for someone?

I logged in to my nuffnang account and clicked on the referrals. Oh, someone was looking for my cousin brother and accidently popped into my blog. Hey mate, have you found Leon yet?

Hack "you" away

Finally this day has come...

I woke up earlier and got everything ready, except our cheque book, yeah, I just couldn't find it, well, you know, when you know you're about to move out, bags, letters(lots of them) are everywhere... I know it is "somewhere there" on my desk and even though my desk is only 5 ft long, I assure you will never able to find your stuff if you ever put your stuff here. Don't believe me? Ask Margaret.

Ok, sorry for digressing. That's mean I'll need to go to the nearest ATM and draw CASH, a total of SGD2k for the reno deposit. Ben was worried, so worried that after drawing 20 pcs of $50 bucks, (I thought he left to work)I was attracted by Hello Kitty stuff next to the ATM, So I walked right in and I was about to touch the rice cooker *lifting my hand* I SAW BEN standing at the other end of the store, telling me to KEEP the CASH PROPERLY. *showin' Fangs* I am not a small girl la~

After saying bye bye to the Hello Kitty, I went to our place to open the door for the workers and signed on the dotted line after saying HELLO to James. He is a nice guy and another good news to me, he stays very near mum's place, I am so lucky because I can take free ride.

After settling some paper work, I headed to the town to shop for kitchen and toilet accessories. Met Nat at Bugis and we chatted like there is no tomorrow. Hahaha..

Okay, for you to peep : See the busybody's finger? Next time, don't touch the broken tiles..

Sales

Monday, June 23, 2008

Whoever dare to tell me Gucci got 30% sale or Kate Spade bags on sale, I'm not going to invite you to my housewarming! I mean it!

Just keep PACKING..

It is only a room, not even a MBR. We just keep packing and can't seem to be able to clear all our stuff. Parents went to NTUC to get some empty boxes for us and here you can see, we have so many sealed boxes with some description on themAnd my furball was afraid he may be left out, so he "chop" one box first! FYI, Twistie was called Whiskey before he came to our house, was told that his previous owner migrated to Australia and left the poor boy behind. That explained why he is behaving like a timid boy and he whines a lot when he is alone, "alone without human", he will still whine even when he was with Smoochie in the house. *like got kidnapped* Why would anyone do this little fellow? To you, he may be just a dog, but to him, we are his EVERYTHING ! *hug and kiss my boy*

Eco TIPS ALERT! Cut energy use, cut costs

As we are starting to renovate our new house, besides shopping like crazy but happy wife for lightings (SGD1500 gone and still 2 more lights to be purchased) and other furniture, we are more conscious when come to buy our home appliances, painting, lightings and other fittings as we want to have a greener home for our sake!

Tips on Selecting A Greener Home
Home orientation
A home that is well positioned will significantly improve comfort and also reduce energy bills. Choose home with minimum surface areas and windows on west. Avoid home with full height glazing facing west. Heat gained from solar radiation by east/west facades is much higher than north/south facades.

Sun-shading
Home with proper sun-shading will improve comfort. Sun-shading should be provided for facades facing east and west to shade the home from direct sunlight to minimize solar heat gain. Balconies and/or planters and bay windows may act as sunshades.

Natural Ventilation
Home with good natural ventilation is the least expensive ways of cooling a home. Home layout should be designed to take advantage of Singapore’s prevailing north-south wind conditions to achieve adequate cross ventilation within home.

Energy
The electrical appliances provided such as air-conditioners and refrigerators should have “Energy Label”. Detailed information on energy efficiency of various models of air-conditioners and refrigerators can be found at Singapore’s Energy Labelling homepage http://www.nccc.gov.sg/energylabel

For example, based on a 20,000 BTU/hour system 3 air-conditioner, you could expect $960 in annual savings if your air-conditioner has 4 ticks.

Choose energy saving lamps that convert more consumed energy to usable light and less heat energy. Avoid incandescent lamps that may convert only 10% of its power to usable light. Halogen lights are extremely energy consuming, instead standing lamps with standard fittings can be considered.

Water Efficient Fittings
The water fittings such as flushing cisterns, showers and taps should have “Water Efficiency Label”. Detailed information on water efficient labeled fittings can be obtained from Public Utilities Board website http://www.pub.gov.sg./

Maximize Daylight
Ceilings and walls should also have a highly reflective white surfaces to help diffuse daylight into the space within the home.

Smart Controls
Review and monitor any other on/off controls such as programmable time clock settings, integral equipment controls, lighting photocells, and occupancy sensors for proper operation. This reduces unnecessary wastage of energy.

Indoor Air Quality
In the painting or renovating a home, it is important to use low-VOC (volatile organic compound) and low-toxic interior paints and finishes to reduce toxins ordinarily associated with other paints. Using these types of paints improves the overall indoor air quality of the home.

IN THE HOME

An air-conditioner consumes 10 times more energy than an electric fan. Use an electric fan where possible. If you have to use an air-conditioner, increase the temperature by 1ºC and reduce energy bills by at least 10 per cent. Or set the air-conditioner at 25ºC for the most comfort at the least cost.
Reduce annual CO2 emissions by 860kg. Save $310.

Buy Energy Label air-conditioners and refrigerators. The more ticks the more efficient the household appliance.
Reduce annual CO2 emissions by 2,440kg. Save $880.

Switch off electrical appliances - DVD/VCD players, hi-fi stereos, TVs, computers, printers - at the main power source, instead of leaving them on stand-by mode.
Reduce annual CO2 emissions by 240kg. Save $90.

狐狸和葡萄

Sunday, June 22, 2008
