Movie, anyone?

Saturday, June 14, 2008

We thought of going for a movie, maybe Kung Fu Panda. Little did we expect that the seats for this movie in the cinema are almost full from 2105hrs-2155hrs. When I asked, "how about the second last show at 2310hrs?" Ben suggested maybe we should go for THE HAPPENING.

GOSH, WE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT THIS SHOW IS SOOOO HAPPENING ! Haha ..

p/s : Well, we decided to cuddle on our couch, turning on the HBO channel tonight

GIVE me a GOOD Contractor pls...

Renovation is not a new thing to me and honestly speaking, I hate it. I hate going thru the list and meeting up with contractors and discussing the same things over and over and over again. Why can't they take out their pen and write down all the things I've mentioned so I don't have to call them up, email them again to say," you forgot to include..." and the best part is - NO RESPONSE !

I wanna be like others and "leave the rest to my contractor", well, only when I got a very responsible and good one. As I had very very nasty experience with this contractor - Zavier (Home Choice Design, IMM) and his workers in 2003, now, I am very careful, extra careful when come to quotations and hidden cost.

So far, I've met a few contractors, all recommended by friends and family :

Mr. Tan Cheng Chuan from Exquisite Art
He came on time for appointment. Advised to hack down the balcony wall as the tiles may fall off anytime. Well, I took his advice and added this into my list. He went around the place and said most things I've mentioned to him is minor and the quotation should be below $20k. I then waited patiently for his reply on the quotation and one week past. I am here to annouce Mr. Ah Chuan has gone MISSING !

Mr. Andy from Excel
Came across this name because he revamped a forum member's house for $40k. Thought it was very reasonable and got his no by owner of the Yishun Mais. Met up with Andy and his quotation was indeed very low and he seems like a nice guy. I told him we will only get our keys in June and hope to meet up with him again. Finally the day has come and I smsed him, he ignored me for many days and Nat was suggesting me to call him using her hp and he ANSWERED! He came over and gave me his quotation and said he will honour the quotation given to me in April but I can tell he is not keen to do our business. How can I trust a contractor who MIA even before the contract signed ? I wanted to see his workmanship but many excuses from him.

Mr. Benson Chng
A very nice and humble contractor recommended by friend. Everything was okay except the quotation. =(

Mr. Arthur
Recommended by my BIL's friend. He was the first one who emailed me the quotation and his charges is also quite high. LISTENED very carefully whatever things I said but missed out too many important things on his quote. Nevermind, I emailed him and requested him to add in those "empty space", yeah, I actually write out the list myself and you know what, Mr Arthur is way toooooo busy to entertain me.

Mr. Leow
My neighbour is a contractor! Easy going and anything also "can". His quotation is all right but I am still considering... because, I cannot stand Mrs. Leow.. Same thing, forgot a few things in his quote and now again, waiting for his latest quotation. We keep thinking, if we really get other people to renovate our place, will Mrs. Leow angry? But again, is our hard earn money and is really up to us to choose who we want, right?

Mr. Low from Boon Siew
Very nice contractor and highly recommended by Nat's colleague. When we were discussing about what and where to renovate, he took out his pen *yeah i raise my eyebrow* and write down everything on the floorplan given by me earlier on. I am still waiting for his quotation. If his can beat Mr. Leow's, I will definitely go for him !

CDEFGGG..

Cheryl has been attending her piano class weekly for the past few months. As she is chosen to perform on the coming weekend, mummy N brought her mini electronic keyboard over for her to pratice. Cheryl is playing confidently in our living room and the strigent and picky audience : Auntie Diana, Twistie and Smoochie.

Vespa

I've been toying with the idea of getting a Vespa lately. Ben said "dangerous" but N said is good idea since I've already gotten myself a license to ride.. Hmm..

Happy Happy Happy Birthday to our BIL !

She is such a Sweetheart..

Pose again?
The "Precious Moment" Look

PEACE

I don't normally take nap but I did today as I was so frustrating with those contractors and my new neighbour, a typical BMW. Not only that, I woke up by the noisy created by those kids playing at the playground. I realise nowadays children don't play at playground, they SCREAM and SHOUT!

Don't get me wrong, we have yet to move to our new place. Talk about it, our new place is quiet and quiet and quiet. In fact, this is our main concern when we view all units.

The Criteria :
- SUPER QUIET
- Away from SCHOOLS
- Away from STREETS
- Away from PLAYGROUNDS
- Away from BASKETBALL COURT
- Away from BUS STOPS

- Away from MSCP
- NO young children on same level
- NO noon sun

- Mid Level or above
- Area >140sqm

I know I know, some of you must be thinking, I might as well stay in the mountain or somewhere in the jungle, some can even suggest to get some loan from loan shark to buy a ulu land to build my own nest.

BUT no no no, WE've FOUND OUR DREAM HOUSE. Here is the beautiful view from our living room balcony and our MBR. Arrggghhh..my blog will soon talking about reno reno reno and I am going to bore all my readers to death. Hahaha..

Another sweet hairstyle for C

Daisy..Daisy..Daisy Bell

I always love this song, I learn about it when I was 8 or 9. I still remember it was Mrs Oh who taught us how to sing and she has great voice! I showed this clip to Ben. You know what, he started to sing a little ...*hehe*

Daisy, daisy
Give me your answer do
I'm half crazy all for the love of you
It won't be a stylish marriage
I can't afford a carriage
But you look sweet
Upon the seat
Of the bicycle built for two

I am so fortune to have more than this for my wedding..Haha..

Lilly or Twistie ?

Naughty Ben's version:
Twistie comes when you stop to call her
Twistie runs when you look away
Twistie leaves kisses on your collar
Twistie, Twistie, Twistie, Twistie, stay!

The Original by Pink Martini:
Lilly comes when you stop to call her
Lilly runs when you look away
Lilly leaves kisses on your collar
Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, stay!

Lilly comes when you stop to call her
Lilly runs when you look away
Lilly leaves kisses on your collar
Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, stay!

One day she passed him by
A twinkle in her eye
He said " she was meant for me!"
But when he turned around
He lost what he had found
Oh where can his Lilly be?

Lilly comes when you stop to call her
Lilly runs when you look away
Lilly leaves kisses on your collar
Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, stay!

He searched the city streets
He tempted her with treats
But nobody stopped to taste them
Some are in his pocket
Some are in a locket
He couldn't bring himself to waste them

Ever since she's gone
Some days he can't go on
She runined for another
Pressed up against the glass
He prays that she will pass
Now he's living with his mother

Lilly comes when you stop to call her
Lilly runs when you look away
Lilly leaves kisses on your collar
Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, stay!

Lilly comes when you stop to call her
Lilly runs when you look away
Lilly leaves kisses on your collar
Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, Lilly, stay!

Stay, stay, stay, stay

New Hair Style for Cheryl

Little Cheryl is very happy with her hair style today. NICE and NEAT !

The Making of てるてる坊主 (Teru teru bōzu)

It was uncle Ben's idea to teach Cheryl how to make this てるてる坊主 (Teru teru bōzu)
Teru teru bōzu (Japanese: てるてる坊主; "shiny-shiny Buddhist priest"[1]) is a little traditional hand-made doll made of white paper or cloth that Japanese farmers began hanging outside of their window by a string. This amulet is supposed to have magical powers to bring good weather and to stop or prevent a rainy day. "Teru" is a Japanese verb which describes sunshine, and a "bōzu" is a Buddhist monk (compare the word bonze), or in modern slang, "bald-headed."
Teru teru bōzu became popular during the
Edo period among urban dwellers[2], whose children would make them the day before the good weather was desired and chant "Fine-weather priest, please let the weather be good tomorrow."[2]
Today, children make teru-teru-bōzu out of tissue paper or cotton and string and hang them from a window to wish for sunny weather, often before a school picnic day. Hanging it upside down - with its head pointing downside - acts like a prayer for rain. They are still a very common sight in Japan.

I don't have colour pencil at home so I use my blusher, yeah, is shattered or smashed if you wanna call it but it is my favourite colour and I can't find it anymore in Singapore. Kesalan Patharan was previously having (the only) one makeup counter at Bugis Seiyu(now BHG) and now, no where to be seen! I specially love their trio eye shadows ($36/each) and I was only able to collect 2 sets...sigh... I was so crazy about this korea brand that I spent quite a bit buying their make up kits and became their member. Anyone knows this brand and where is their new make up counter?

学笔画

I've decided to take a break after completing my 3-month assignment and coincidentally, C's grandparents are going to China for holiday so automatically, I've become C's nanny for this whole week. Nat was suggesting to have some cupcake baking/cookies baking session with C but I am busy packing my baking tools so I've got some other plan ---> 学笔画 ! Little Cheryl was very happy when she saw the book and immediately, she pasted her (chinese) name sticker on it.
