Hello From Shanghai!

Sunday, December 02, 2007

It is so hazy in Shanghai. We touched down 5 minutes later than the expected time. The weather was chilling cold and we travelled to Pudian Rd Station by Maglev Train. Yeah, the fastest train that travels up to 430km/hour.
*stay tune for clip*
People here are rather rude, someone actually cut my Q and still dared to look at me. (maybe I am too short + I am a girl). Ben immediately got me out of the Q and stood right in front of him. I was so scared, after hearing all the horror stories of grabbing/ robbing bags and handphones; I quickily "squeezed" my baby girl into our luggage.
*oh poor my saumur*

Finally we reached St. Regis and before we reached the hotel, there was already someone approached us.

"Good afternoon, Mr Goh. We are expecting you." --->took over our luggage.

We were like "........."

I remembered having a butler sending us up to the room and explained everything on our Wedding day at Oriental Hotel. Their service is really good and I will definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. Besides that, they got Ben to sign up to for Startwood Preferred Guest, which mean if he were to go to any of the 850 selected hotels like -sheraton, Le Meridian, Westin, W hotels, Four Points and Luxury Collection, he will get to earn points and enjoy some privileges. So if I were to miss the breakfast tomorrow which serves from 8-10am, I may go to Level 40 to makan.Hahahaha..*I am so bad*

After that, the staff helped us to hail a cab that ferried us to 南京东路Nanjing East Road.We had a hard time getting a prepaid card here as we didn't know it is called 大众卡. The weather is getting very cold as the wind is strong. We saw 大娘水饺! The variety is not that much compares to the one we had at Sydney Chinatown and the food is so-so. Don't think we will come here again but the price is dirt cheap. rmb5.5 for 6 pieces.
Dessert at 糖朝 - Mango Madness!! The cold weather doesn't stop us from eatin' ice
To be frank, is not that safe to travel alone in Shanghai. *imho* Ben wants me to stay in the hotel and wait for him to come back from work, hopefully by 4pm as it turns dark around 5pm! Around the hotel is rather quiet and he just doesn't feel safe for me to travel alone. Safety is so important to us!! I start to miss Sg, how am I going to spend my days here? I miss everyone back there and miss my Smoochie and Twistie.

Tomorrow How? I want to go 七浦qipu, a wholesale market...

So far, I have not seen any hotels that has got a Christmas Tree decorated in front of the hotel.

2 thumbs up for SQ !!

Well, the usual bye-bye photos..

Two Thumbs Up for SQ!!! Food were all right, service is good and this is the smoothest flight I've ever had. No turbulence at all!

At Nat's Place

Saturday, December 01, 2007

We are putting up at Nat's place tonight.
Why?
  • Her place is just a stone throw away from Changi Airport.
  • Our flight is early at 730am (again), we just wanna get more rest &
  • Save our midnight charge cab fare to the airport tomorrow.
  • Avoid rushing
  • Overslept --->Nat will wake up !
This is the second time we stay overnight, the first time was our HK trip. Many thanks to Chris, Nat, uncle and auntie.

Nat and I had great time surfing internet together (browsing Coach Website) while Ben and Cheryl were chit chating and watchin' Playhouse Disney Channel.

That's why we always hope to stay near each other...

Our Lunch, His Cappu, Our Dinner

I know I will definitely crave for Sambal Chilli for the next 2 weeks so we decided to go for Indonesian Food. Tambuah Mas Indonesian Restaurant (Paragon) #B1-47 The Paragon. Thumbs up for the dishes and prices are reasonable. Will come back for more...

Ben had his daily dose of caffeine at Bistro --> Cappucino and I went for quick shopping and bought my rouge unlimited lipstick at Shu Uemura Counter.--> So 满足, is gold beige(limited colour).

Sinful dinner --> Chong Pang Nasi Lemak 忠邦椰浆饭 and fantastic dessert---> Beancurd City 豆花城's 豆花

The Essential

To my surprise, Ben's desk is quite tidy and clean. Look at his monitor, is a 24 inch LCD and there is another one on another desk! I wonder... *rolling eyes*
While helping him to clear some stuff from his drawer, these are some of the essential stuff I've found..

~Supportive Supportive~

Woke up this morning around 830am, Ben was already sitting in front of his laptop. I saw him bringing in the house phone into our room, by the way, I didn't know the extension was enough for him to to do that.

" Honey, what are you doing?" *half awake, still on the bed*

" There will be a conference call from US later." *back facing me*

" You need to shower the Smoochie today, you know that?" *wondering tone*

" Yeah, but my conference will be from 9am-1030am and we need to leave the house by 11am." *frowning*

" Why?" *duh*

" Our passports are still at my office and need to collect your visa." *I was like WTH*

What's next? (Of course I have to) Got off the bed after tidying and lil' Smoochie happily followed me into the shower room.

While he was conferencing, I cleared and washed the war zone(of Smoochie & Twistie). Mopped the whole house and waited for him in the living room(watching HBO).

Here I am waiting for him (again) at his desk, YEAH, Bingo! I am in his office, facing the 24 inch LCD, typing every words and hearing my stomach grumbling.

Looks like the Milo cannot satisfied my hunger now and guess what, he is NOW HAVING CONFERENCE AGAIN in the conference room!!

But, I know he feels very sorry (& HungRY too)about this and he will sayang sayang me more more later.

So, is tough huh to be a Supportive Wife? After all these years, I realised I've become more patience, thanks to Ben who taught me how to distress and learn to relax. See, I am using my time blogging.

Earrings For The Lil' Princess

Friday, November 30, 2007

I bought this pair of earrings at least 4 years ago from goldsmith. When Nat mentioning about changing Cheryl's ear studs in 3 weeks time. I told her I'm going to find this pair of earrings and pass it to her. Thanks to Uncle Ben who helped to dig it out from somewhere. The size is just nice for Cheryl and hope she will like it.

* 4 of us (N,J,M,D) used to wore this type of earrings when we were young*

What's for Dinner?

It took me so many hours to prepare our dinner tonight. You never believe me, I started around 2pm! Thank god I managed to cook for Margaret who just had her dinner 10 minutes ago--->yeah, 430pm. Is not funny,k? She has to rush to the bus station and she just can't afford to be late!

Okok. I tried making 煎饼, that's why it took me so long to come online again. My back starts to ache as I stood for too long. Stamina not good...I'll try to post the recipe again tonight, if Ben didn't cling onto me,ok? Oh I love Friday...
*updates*
Dough: 2 rice cups of Plain flour with 2/3 cups of boiling hot water.
Stir quickily with chopsticks then knead until smooth.*hot hot, see my hand red red* Let rest for 30min.
Filling: 1 bowl Minced meat, lots of 葱 but same portion, 1 onion, some garlic, black sause, pepper.--->stir fried, make sure the filling is DRY.
THEN, flaten the dough and spread little oil and salt before adding filling. Roll it up and cut into small pieces. I used my palm to press them hard together before pan fried.

My 煎饼

酸辣汤 - silken tofu, 3 Tbsp of vinegar (black) & 1 Tbsp for white vinegar, 2 Tbsp of sugar, crab meat *Ben's fav*, beaten egg, 香油, salt to taste. Remember to add corn flour starch before beaten egg.

芹菜, fried with leftover meat from 煎饼

Last but not least, my 腐乳蒸鸡, just marinate the chicken with fremented tofu, can get it for $1 plus from NTUC or other supermarkets. Add chili if you like. *all-time fav*

Protest ??

This usually happens during our dinner or right after our dinner.
Smoochie will bite the corner of his bowl *see the biting mark* and carries it out to the living room to tell us he needs food.
Not that we forget to feed him, he is just merely reminding us. Sometimes I think he just wants to play *attention seeker*as right after we place the food, he normally doesn't eat it until much later.
Photos taken yesterday while Ben and I were in the bedroom and when Ben wanted to takeover his bowl, you see how protective he was !

Tummy Pain

I love chilli and most of the time, I would love to have chilli for dinner time. Remember my dish yesterday night? Yeah, the sambal fish. This type of chilli always upset my stomach but I just can't resist it. Looks like I have to cook something pretty simple for tonight. What's for my lunch? I had milo. Why? It is because I am home alone today and trying to tidy my living room. Luggage? Half way half way *paiseh*

BEN, the Builder !

Ben is "building" this little house and see, Cheryl is helping too.

We got this little house for Cheryl months back, she loves...hmm... making poo poo inside and of course, Hide and Seek!

Now she loves to play with Smoochie and Twistie and even "invited" them to her little play house. I know I know, empty house right? Yet to buy furniture,k?

Product was on promotion so we got it less than SGD15 and is very easy to get it fixed up.
*More pictures coming up

Big Rave : Fried Fish with Our Homemade Sambal

Char Siew Bao 叉烧包

I wanted to make Pao few days back but forgot to buy the Hong Kong Flour so when mum asked me if I wanna go NTUC this morning, straight a way I asked her," Ma, wanna make pao today?"....Follow my style and this is the simpliest way to your very own 叉烧包!

Ingredients for dough:

300 g. Hong Kong flour
60 g. castor sugar
2 teasp. Instant Yeast
2 teasp. double-action Baking Powder
35 g. Shortening
120-150 mls. water

My "anyhow "Fillings:

250 g. Pork Lean Meat (diced)
1 Onion - diced
1 Tbsp. Oyster sauce
2 Tbsp. Soya Sauce
3 Tbsp. Dark Sauce
1 Tbsp. Seafood Sauce
1 tsp. sesame oil
1 1/2 Tbsp. cornflour )

Some Salt & sugar to taste

Basically I just mix everything (for dough) together, excluding the water.
Then I add water and use a pair of chopsticks act as the mixer ---> I am just too lazy to bring our my mixer *faint*
After that I start to knead until I find it smooth and nice to touch-->not stick
Place it in the mixing bowl, cover with damp cloth and let it raise for 30 min. After reading some mails....
Stir fried the marinated diced meat and let it cool. Divide the dough into a few small ball.
Wrap fillings in the small ball, of course you have to make it flat first and seal tightly.
Place onto greaseproof paper and I FORGOT TO leave to proof for another 30 mins. Straight a way I steam over high heat for 10 mins.
