Girls' Day Out

Tuesday, November 27, 2007

Went to IMM with Natalie today. Coincidently, we wear the same mini jeans we bought together many years back! After ranting how much weight we've put on lately, blah blah blah.. we decided not to have our (heavy)dinner tonight and start thinking what to have for our lunch. Haha! Finally we settled it at 湾仔茶餐厅.
I like their 招牌河粉, $6 云吞面, $4.80 (so-so)
杨枝金露, $5 (not worth it)
After walking for hoursssss, we sat down at Mcdonalds for some snack and see this logo? Yeah, that's why we were there!
Here are some items I bought for today-scarf, leg warmers and a leggy.
Nah, Ben wanted me to learn from Wendy, that's why I get all these and I will definately try it next time. So, stay tune...
Oh yah, I bought my nose stud today!

The Sound of Music

Oh.... Suddenly got the urge to go Salzburg, I am so emotional... Still remember I first watched this show when I was 7 or 8 *sigh*

Carousel Cake Separator

Nat wanted to have it for Cheryl's 2nd bday, we couldn't get it due to time constrain so Cheryl got another design for her cake instead. To play safe, I ordered it right away, which is like *counting finger* 7 months back from BIY. Guess what? The product arrived TWICE and they didn't contact me and SOLD it to other customers!
Never mind, I told myself. Waited for another few months and the answer they gave me few days back was," we have no idea when is the next shipment.." Cannot be right?!!!!??? Don't tell me we can only have that carousel cake separator for her 4th bday!

So, I decided to call Chong Trading and asked for the price. Answer : Not sure (cannot be right?)but < $50.

What the heck? It is only USD12.99 from Wilton and even BIY is selling at only $28. Now I am calling Phoon Huat and see if I am gonna to "highly recommend" this place. FYI, mostly all stores are run by hainanese and I have no idea why are they so yaya papaya esp. Sun Lik.
*Updates*
Phoon Huat called up yesterday and said order can be done so. See! They are so Efficient!

士林夜市 in Singapore?

Sunday, November 25, 2007

Gotcha! After the Taiwan 士林夜市 post, Ben and I decided to have some taiwanese food for our dinner.
We went to Plaza Singapura, B2 and ordered the 蚵仔面线 & 超大鸡扒 $6++

Followed by Our Favourite Mango Tango $3.80

Little India

We wanted to go Mustafa Centre at Little India to try our luck for some less expensive down jacket but as if you go on reading, we didn't get any from MC but then we had a fantastic Northern Indian food at the famous Banana Leaf Restaurant.
We come here at least 2 times a year, for children's birthday celebrations. Oh yah, 80% of his colleagues are indians and they are super nice people!
Here we ordered Tandoori Chicken, Chilli Chicken and Garlic Naans.---> $27

After the feast, we walked around and I got my puttu ( wrong spelling?). I still remember I used to wear it during my poly time, together with thick eyes liners, volumed eyes lashes and nose stud. Talk about that, I've decided to wear it since I am no longer working in the clinc or ward. Oh Yes! 'THEY' stopped me from wearing nose stud for 'professional' reason. Huh? What? I've never mentioned I had my nose pierced 4 years back? Well, now you know *smile*

Down

So, what is down? Don't expect me to say up side down, k?
Down (n.)

noun
1. the soft, first plumage of many young birds.
2. the soft under plumage of birds as distinct from the contour feathers.
3. the under plumage of some birds, as geese and ducks, used for filling in quilts, clothing, etc., chiefly for warmth.
4. a growth of soft, fine hair or the like.
5. Botany
a. fine, soft pubescence on plants and some fruits.
b. the light, feathery pappus or coma on seeds by which they are borne on the wind, as on the dandelion and thistle.

adjective
6. filled with down: a down jacket.

Based on the Random House Unabridged Dictionary, © Random House, Inc. 2006

Got Ben a down jacket today from COLD WEAR and it smells stink to me. While he was trying them on, I felt like I was with a lot of ducks in the store. *rolling eyes* But the good part is - Ben doesn't feel anything and when I complained to him a minute ago, he said,

"HONEY, you are going to wear one also!"
--->prayin' hard Mng coat is not made by down.<---

At the same time, we bought long john, scarf , gloves and socks.

!! Mama Mia !!

Saturday, November 24, 2007

I've been cheated by you since I don't know when
So I made up my mind, it must come to an end
Look at me now, will I ever learn?
I don't know how but I suddenly lose control
There's a fire within my soul
Just one look and I can hear a bell ring
One more look and I forget everything, o-o-o-oh

Mamma mia, here I go again
My my, how can I resist you?
Mamma mia, does it show again?
My my, just how much I've missed you
Yes, I've been brokenhearted
Blue since the day we parted
Why, why did I ever let you go?
Mamma mia, now I really know,
My my, I could never let you go.

I've been angry and sad about the things that you do
I can't count all the times that I've told you we're through
And when you go, when you slam the door
I think you know that you won't be away too long
You know that I'm not that strong.
Just one look and I can hear a bell ring
One more look and I forget everything, o-o-o-oh

Mamma mia, here I go again
My my, how can I resist you?
Mamma mia, does it show again?
My my, just how much I've missed you
Yes, I've been brokenhearted
Blue since the day we parted
Why, why did I ever let you go?
Mamma mia, even if I say
Bye bye, leave me now or never
mamma mia, it's a game we play
Bye bye doesn't mean forever

Mamma mia, here I go again
My my, how can I resist you?
Mamma mia, does it show again?
My my, just how much I've missed you
Yes, I've been brokenhearted
Blue since the day we parted
Why, why did I ever let you go
Mamma mia, now I really know
My my, I could never let you go

Really lmao, she reminds me of ChIPmUNK !

Taiwan の 士林夜市

Everyone knows that Taiwan is a nice place to .... eat! See, I am transforming to a pig soon. Ben was telling me that maybe we should visit Taiwan with parents. Well, I do agree. Whenever we watch taiwanese programme, esp. when come to 小吃. We will say,"let's go Taiwan together!" Hmm, maybe I should just discuss with Nat about our next family trip when they are back from Genting.

These are the must try when visit to 士林夜市 : 豆花、豆干、303广东粥、生炒花枝、花枝羹、刀削面、猪肝汤、大饼包小饼、台湾正统冰品、辛发亭冰店、士林香肠

Kuih Talam

The reason for cooking the kuih Talam is because Ben loves them. I forgot to buy the alkaline water so the texture is not very nice but Ben still likes them, I will try to make it again with ALL ingredients, but not any time soon. hehe..Recipe extract from Kuali

For bottom green layer:
(A):
70g rice flour
30g green bean flour
280ml water

(B):
6 pandan leaves cut into 3cm pieces
250ml water
A few drops of green colouring
250g sugar
1/2 tsp alkaline water
For top white layer:
(C):
50g rice flour
1 1/2 tbsp green bean flour
1/2 tsp salt
75ml water
225ml pati santan from 1 coconut

Method:
  • Mix (A) and leave aside to soak for about 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Blend (B) in a liquidiser then strain to get the pandan juice.
  • Mix the pandan juice with (A). Add sugar and colouring.
  • Cook over low heat and stir continuously with a wooden spoon until batter becomes fairly thick and translucent.
  • Pour the hot sticky batter into a greased 20cm cake tin.
  • Smoothen and level the surface with a plastic spatula.
  • Steam over rapidly boiling water for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • To prepare the white layer, mix ingredients (C) together and soak for 10 minutes.
  • Pour the topping layer over the cooked green layer.
  • Steam for about 10 minutes.
  • Cool the kuih well.
  • Slice into small diamond-shaped pieces.

Poor little Shih Tzu

Got this from My Space, poor little shih tzu's hair got tied up this way.

But maybe 'she' is happy, owner out there, please be more responsible in taking care of your furkid. Don't feed them low grade food and human junk food.
Bring them for proper hair cut or I should say proper grooming.
If you really wanna safe $ then don't keep any pet!
I always said,

" To you, he may be just a pet, but to him, you are everything!"
Can someone help the little Maltese? Is this selling in Singapore? *wonder*

Kawaii

Saw this little cute thing while shopping for my baking tools at Orchard and I just can't stop myself from putting it into my shopping basket. I'm not suaku ok? I know is fish cake and I've seen other design as well but this really reminds me of Jeremy, who could draw pikachu when he was only a toddler. Time flies, he is now a RI student so don't ask me how long ago..
*I feel old*

Egg Tarts..for you girls..

Friday, November 23, 2007

Finally this day has come..

I've handed Sis Lim my locker key, name tag and my benefit card..

I've also baked some egg tarts for my fellow colleagues and here is the packaging..

Congratulations!

I was still with Mei Ling during her contraction and 3 hours later, her baby boy sees the light of day, or rather the light from the florescence light as it was already 9 plus in the night. Haha...

Her EDD was supposed to be on the first week of December that I thought I may miss, luckily I am able to touch the little angel before our departure.

Ben stared at him for few minutes that Siti was trying to coax him(us) to have baby, not only Siti, Lyneous did the same thing too!

!Farewell My Fellow Colleagues!

No matter how much hatred I had inside me(towards her), how much I wanted to leave this place... There is always someone I missed the most...

*stop guessing, she is not in all photos, what are you taking me for? A hipocrite? Or Britney Spears?*

Song of the post to set the mood -
These are the powerpuff girls at our front counter. I really love working with you girls even though you all are quite fierce esp. on Tues and Thu but I always tell myself, "everyone has their own way to distress themself."

Kak Noor, I still remember my first day in clinic, you were the one who did a little orientation in the clinic with me. You are always soft spoken, polite and humble. Please don't feel bad anymore, there is other reason for me to make this decision.

Srina is a big mama in the clinic. To me, she is BRAVE. Her hubby owns 2 shops at Esplanade - The Tatami Shop and The Cookies Museum, must ask for discount when I visit the stores, haha!

Grace is from Philipine and has 2 beautiful kids. I still remember how sexy she looked even in her maternity clothes.

Barvani, please remember to SMS me when your big day has come.. *wink*

My best best buddy : KAREN TANG. Bubbly and hot tempered but I really wish you all the best and hope your dream comes true. When I am really down and no where to hide in the clinic, (you might not know this) you're always there (in the cine room) to be with me..

Sukini," You are always my favourite girl.." I never had the chance to tell you, "Kak Su, you really make me feel protected, you are like a mummy to me..."

...Alone...

Wednesday, November 21, 2007

The Stay Home Wife is stayin' at home tonight(of cause), so what's so special to mention this?
It is Because...

Her Doting Husband has to stay overnight in the office.

SHW understands this is the critical period so she told him is okay as long as he has food with him, yes he gets hungry easily in the middle of the night, if he is still awake and he will never grab any food until his gastric juice "reminds" him.

Poor Ben, that's also one of the reason the trip has been postponed.
Cross my fingers and hope that everything goes smooth tonight.

...Time for bed now...

N For Nice!

N is also for Natalie !!! Nat is my super nice sister, not from the church and not from my clinic, she is my biological sister! Hahahaha... So happy to see this collage :) She is sooooo creative and smart! Must book her to be wawee's tuition teacher, but please don't teach wawee about soccer as wamee and wabee don't like..

Bread Making

Ahha, I am not the one who bake the bread but my 2 lovely colleagues, opps, I should say ex-colleagues, Trina & Jessica. This bread maker is belong to Sis Lim and she always bakes it using the Prima Premix Bread Flour. I will use the word "busy" rather than "lazy" as I know, everyone is 'BUSY' in the clinic most of the time so she will just mix the flour + honey + water and .....3 hours later.... THE BREAD IS READY !

One of my ex-colleague was trying to praise herself in front of Dr DZP by saying," I used to set the (bread maker)timer every night at home and by 6am, viola~my bread is done so we have "freshly baked bread" at home daily."
And I emphasized it," yeah, and the premix bread flour costs you $3.15 per pack."

Winter Wear?

Tuesday, November 20, 2007

Did a little shoppin' today before meetin' Ben at Orchard. As mentioned before, I need to shop for some winter clothes for the bitterly cold Shanghai. I walked into Mango and realised that I haven't been shoppin' for clothes for almost 3 months(Bet you, last was in HK!), not even shoes ok! I totally forgot all my sizes (UK? US?), for pants la and Ahem, bra. I ended up going in and out of the fitting room for 4 times just to try size 40, 38, 34, 36 and of cause surely got one fit me and the price is like SO CHEAP ($59, go grab now if you want, it is located at Takashimaya) that I wanted to get 2 pairs but the colours are damn odd so I got only one black pants and a spaghetti top, yeah, why am I getting it while shoppin' for winter clothes?

SIMPLY TOO CHEAP TO MISS, it is only $15

See the long coat(below la), good pricing too at $99 but I wanted Ben to see it before I buy and BEN indeed loves it so most likely I will come back on Friday evening to get it. Oh yah, Ben was asking me out for dinner this Friday, must remind mummy not to cook (nice food) our shares.
